1-5-21: Welcome aboard the In Progress express! That is to say, this is another way to keep track of the plan for your next part of the studio build. Here are some pics of the Mock-Ups… and how awesome the place is looking thus far. Let’s break the project down into “phases” to keep track.

12-5-21: Welcome aboard the Diffuser City Express! Your project is in sample mode. Just have to get the right finish to pop. More soon…
12-22-21: Been working on a few samples. They will be added to the Gallery below as they are ready.
12-31-21: In all, the effect works. Lighting is a big factor in making the colors pop. Particularly, lighting shining from the top down a bit lie Gallery track lighting. I’ll take a few more pics tested in natural light for reference soon.
The sample called “Color 1” is 12” x 12” and is shown with light coloration for the “less is more” feel. I’ll double it up for another sample and how that looks. Also, possibly another sample with larger areas for color fields. That might help pop things more.
The other two pics just labeled “Sample” are of the same sample without color added for reference.
Color Pallet: TBD - This “Color 1” is shown with red, yellow, blue, and black. Yellow glows the brightest, then blue, and red.
White Finish: TBD - “Color 1” shows the worn white finish. It is the usual worn finish that works with the various textures of the variety of woods. It needs a little more sanding in these pics.
Some of the white blocks were added here and there to work out the color effect. Therefore, some may look a little rougher here than others. The pics were taken as that was worked out and some of the blocks were not sanded properly. So in all, not final but the pics should get the point across.

1-19-22: Things are starting to take shape as to be something to see soon. Looks like there will be pics tomorrow. As of now, the framing is done and there are LOTS of little parts to clean up and assemble. More soon.
1-21-22: Things are taking shape! There will be several stages to the process. Here is most of the square footing approaching stage 1 status. More soon. Then comes the under coat of white and lots of body work.
1-25-22: Primer coat in action
1-26-22: Popping in some color veneer. Seems to look and pop better than just paint.
1-28-22: And the paint keeps on…Still LOTS to do this week the weather has been no help with the painting process. Two coats of white have been applied. Now, just figuring out the veneer panels and paint pallette. So far the palette is based on our phone conversation of yellow, watermelon, and blues. If they differ please let me know.
I’ll mock up some Photoshop drawings of the layout of the panels and move forward with the color and additional blocking to top them off. More soon.
Below are pics of how the veneer lays in. It will be laminated on the panels then the edges covered to conceal visible seams. Then additional blocking to tp off. See the last pic for the pallette.
2-1-22: Still moving on with the white lacquer. The weather is finally good to do so. In the meantime, here is a layout drawing and palette sample drawing as well.
2-2-22: the white finish is pretty much complete. Let’s let it gas off and cure. Then more color veneer, more blocks, cleats, backs, and final touches.
2-6-22: Veneer time! Just figuring out the best look. Maybe a little scuffing/knock back on the color veneer… It will help blend the contrast between the rustic white and not-so rustic color.
Update: I gave up on the veneer a few days later. Solid pre-painted blocks served to be a better solution.
2-7-22: The weather outside was frightful this week but good news, the color placement is complete.
Now to let them dry. Then to hide to block as much as possible but still have effect. More block will be added too.
The effect works, especially on the light blue and yellow. However, it is difficult to capture on camera. More soon and with a mock setup too.
2-11-22: Did someone say more blocking? If so here are plenty more drying in the sun.
next week will take a huge leap forward.
2-15-22: Still blocking and finding edges. The results are good. It just takes time. More to show this week.
2-16-22: More blocking and hiding.
2-17-22: Good news! It’s about half way there. Here is a shot of seven 1' x 2’ panels with mostly natural light. See the video link for some talk and close ups. Cheers!
2-18-22: Working on the 12” x 12”s to get them up to the 3rd stage.
2-22-22: Just about done with the 3rd stage of the 13 - 12 x 12 panels. Then another clear top coat and hanging cleats. Then the project is pretty much done.
I’ll take a mock-up install photo soon. Looks like they will be complete next week.
2-25-22: Hurray! The final 12 x 12 panel has reached the 3rd stage. Now a final clear coat and group photo. Also, hanging brackets. let’s start thinking of install dates…
3-3-22: And moving on to hanging cleats and a test set up. From there a quick top coat and then they are done.
Looks like they will be done on Monday.
